Andover Rugby Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Samson Earle (affectionately known to us all as “Sumo”) as the new Head Coach of the Colts for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Samson brings with him a wealth of experience, passion, and a deep connection to the Club, making him the ideal choice to lead our next generation of rugby talent.
Samson is currently a senior player at Andover Rugby Club, known for his commitment, leadership, and exceptional understanding of the game. Beyond his on-field contributions, Samson is a highly qualified Rugby Union and Rugby League coach and holds a prestigious Degree in Sport Coaching and Physical Education from Oxford Brookes University, equipping him with the skills to nurture and develop players both on and off the pitch.
Samson’s appointment also marks a full-circle moment for Andover Rugby Club, as he himself was once a Colt, progressing through our Rugby Academy. His journey is a testament to the values of dedication, teamwork, and excellence that our Club strives to instil in all its players. Additionally, Samson carries forward a proud family legacy, following in the footsteps of his father, Andy, who served as one of the clubs most successful Colts Head Coaches in recent years.
Speaking about his appointment, Samson said:
“It’s an incredible honour to step into this role. Andover Rugby Club has been a cornerstone of my rugby journey, and I’m excited to give back to the Colts, just as this program gave to me. My goal is to help these young players develop their skills, grow as individuals, and create memories that will last a lifetime—just as I did.”

His understanding of the Club’s ethos, combined with his coaching expertise and personal experience as a former Colt, makes him uniquely qualified to inspire and guide the next wave of Andover talent.
